Dennis Ritchie has left #world
Dennis Ritchie (above right) aka DMR, creator of the C programming language and co-developer of the Unix operating system, left us yesterday at the age of 70.
Personally, I learned C from “his” book “The C Programming Language” and I still use K&R indentation, although slightly remixed GNU-style.
It is a disappearance that will have practically non-existent media coverage, unlike the death of Steve Jobs which occurred the previous week.
For that reason I write about it here, as a tribute to this man, virtually unknown to the general public, but who enormously contributed to computing as we know it today.
Indeed, without him no Unix, even less Linux or BSD, farewell Windows, Android, iOS and friends, nothing.
#include <stdio.h>
#define INFINI 1
#define GODLIKE "Dennis"
int main(void){
while(INFINI){
printf("RIP %s, and thank you for all the fishs!\n",GODLIKE);
}
return(0);
}
